What food is associated with 31% less cancer risk? Scientist in a published study in 2024

Posted on August 19, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on What food is associated with 31% less cancer risk? Scientist in a published study in 2024

For years, researchers have noticed that overall cancer rates, especially cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon were much lower in Asian countries compared to European countries. Scientists wondered if there were specific factors in the Asian diet that help to prevent cancer in general. A large meta analysis published in 2024 that looked at a total of 52 studies found that people who ate the most soy food had a 31% lower risk of total cancer incidence compared to those who had to eat the least. They were looking at soy foods including tofu, miso, soy milk, and natto. Researchers believed that the isoflavones in the soy foods played a major role in the reduction in cancer risk because isoflavones are anti-inflammatory and have tumor suppression properties. Also soy foods have fiber plant based protein and healthy fats, of course other factors may play a role in causing cancer but for good health it may be useful to add soy foods to your list of foods to eat regularly.
