In a recent diabetes study of over 216,000 adults, researchers found that this one simple substitute was associated with a big reduction in the risk of type 2 diabetes. They found that people who ate at least one serving per day of nuts and legumes instead of red meat were 30% less likely to get diabetes. They also found that if they replaced processed meat with nuts and legumes daily, there was a 40% reduction in the risk of diabetes.
