Here are three myths to bust to help control diabetes. The first myth is that carbs cause diabetes. In a study involving over 463,000 participants, researchers found that those who ate the most whole grain had a 21% lower risk of diabetes than those who ate the least amount. The second myth is the gluten myth. While some people avoid whole grain because of non-celiac gluten sensitivity, a double blind study shows that gluten produces no more symptoms than placebo. And the third myth is that all carbs make you fat when the truth is that studies show that whole grain consumption is associated with weight control rather than weight gain.
