Change your gut, Flora change your cancer risk? Colon cancer is increasing in young people, possibly

Posted on August 25, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Change your gut, Flora change your cancer risk? Colon cancer is increasing in young people, possibly

Colon cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in the US, and what’s alarming is that this is beginning to occur in younger and younger people, so how do we prevent it? Research is pointing toward dietary factors, because people are consuming processed and junk food at a younger and younger age. One emerging factor is gut flora, researchers have found that colon cancer is associated with an intestinal bacteria called fusobacterium nucleatum. Scientists believe that this gut flora suppresses the immune system that fights cancer which allows colon cancer to form. Research on dietary intervention shows that a high fat diet and red meat increase the species of gut flora and is associated with higher risk of colon cancer. Research also reveals that fiber, whole grain, fruit, and vegetables reduce the prevalence of fusobacterium nucleatum and is associated with less colon cancer. So to reduce your risk of colon cancer, consider eating more fiber, whole grain, whole vegetables and fruit and less fat and red meat.

Colon cancer is rising among young people, so how do we stop it? Here are seven things you can avoid to help lower your risk of colon cancer. No. 7 is a bit surprising. No. 1, sugar sweetened beverages are associated with 32% increase in colon cancer risk. No. 2, inactivity increases colon cancer risk by 27%. No. 3, obesity is associated with 44% increase in colon cancer. No. 4, red meat consumption is associated with a 28% higher risk of colon cancer. No. 5, smoking increases colon cancer by 47%. No. 6 alcohol is associated with up to 60% higher risk of colon cancer. No. 7, the surprise is that high fat diet may increase colon cancer risk by altering the gut flora to be predominated by tumor promoting species of gut bacteria.

A large study links meet to diabetes

Posted on August 22, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on A large study links meet to diabetes

Researchers in 2024 analyzed data from nearly 2 million adults over a 10 year period and they found a 15% increase in risk of type 2 diabetes for every 1.8 ounces of processed meat they ate each day. And a 10% increase in risk for every 3 and a half ounces of unprocessed red meat they consume daily. While this isn’t proof of causation. There are at least 4 ways that meat can contribute to type 2 diabetes. No. 1, red meat tends to be high in saturated fat which is known to cause insulin resistance. No. 2, red and processed meat is associated with obesity in most studies. No. 3, meat increases TMAO or trimethylamine and oxide which interferes with insulin signaling. No. 4, heme iron which is in red meat is inflammatory and maybe toxic to the pancreas. So to reduce your risk of diabetes, consider cutting back on your meat intake and increase your intake of beans, whole grains, fruit, and vegetables which are associated with less diabetes.

What food is associated with 31% less cancer risk? Scientist in a published study in 2024

Posted on August 19, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on What food is associated with 31% less cancer risk? Scientist in a published study in 2024

For years, researchers have noticed that overall cancer rates, especially cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon were much lower in Asian countries compared to European countries. Scientists wondered if there were specific factors in the Asian diet that help to prevent cancer in general. A large meta analysis published in 2024 that looked at a total of 52 studies found that people who ate the most soy food had a 31% lower risk of total cancer incidence compared to those who had to eat the least. They were looking at soy foods including tofu, miso, soy milk, and natto. Researchers believed that the isoflavones in the soy foods played a major role in the reduction in cancer risk because isoflavones are anti-inflammatory and have tumor suppression properties. Also soy foods have fiber plant based protein and healthy fats, of course other factors may play a role in causing cancer but for good health it may be useful to add soy foods to your list of foods to eat regularly.

This common nutrient may be promoting cancer growth

Posted on August 18, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on This common nutrient may be promoting cancer growth

Researchers have found that high consumption of this nutrient is correlated with higher risk of breast, prostate, colon, and lung cancers. This common nutrient causes changes in your gut flora that causes it to produce lots of leucine. This is an amino acid that triggers the production of certain type of white blood cells that suppress the immune system against cancer. The nutrient I’m describing is dietary fat. This may explain why population studies show that countries that consume the most fat have high rates of breast, prostate, colon, and lung cancers compared to countries that consume comparatively little fat. There is also emerging research that suggests that a lower fat diet can reverse these changes and reduce the risk and even help to treat these cancers.

This common nutrient may be promoting cancer growth. it does so by altering the good Flora that results in suppressing the immune system. #drshintani #fightcancer. #anticancer #anticancerdiet. #fightcancertogether. #highfatdiet. #lowfatdiet.

Here’s a surprising weight loss supplement that appears to be good for your skin and blood sugar

Posted on August 16, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Here’s a surprising weight loss supplement that appears to be good for your skin and blood sugar

This ancient supplement was used in Chinese, Ayurvedic, and Middle Eastern medicine for thousands of years. It was used for a number of health conditions such as asthma, digestive problems, cough, and skin conditions. More recently, research has shown in both animal and human studies that it appears to be helpful in blood sugar and weight control. Meta analysis shows that this supplement may also be useful in skin conditions such as acne, eczema, atopic dermatitis, and even vitiligo. The supplement is black seed oil, which comes from the herb Nigella sativa. The active nutrient appears to be thymoquinone, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory substance. For skin conditions it’s used topically twice a day and appears to be as effective as corticosteroid cream. In blood sugar and weight loss research, one of the studies used half a teaspoon twice per day. Of course check with your doctor before adding any supplement to your regimen.

9 foods that can help you prevent or fight lung cancer

Posted on August 15, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on 9 foods that can help you prevent or fight lung cancer

Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in the US, and it’s affecting younger and younger people even those who don’t smoke. Population studies have shown that people eating more foods with beta carotene in them but not beta carotene supplements were less likely to get lung cancer. So researchers realized that whole food high in beta carotene such as carrots, squash, and yellow and orange fruit and vegetables play a role in preventing lung cancer. To test the effect of other foods on lung cancer, researchers cultured lung cancer cells in a number of petri dishes and then added extracts of various foods to them. Researchers found that garlic, leeks, green onions, and brussel sprouts slowed or stopped the growth of lung cancer almost completely. They also found out that kale, cabbage, beets, and spinach, slow the growth by up to 90%. So to reduce the risk of lung cancer, consider eating more of these foods.

Posted on August 14, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Six foods that work like Ozempic to help control blood sugar and weight partly by stimulating GLP1

Ozempic and other GLP1 agonist medications are selling like crazy, because they help with blood sugar control and induce weight loss in most. But they’re very expensive, so what if you could get this effect with simple food. GLP1 is short for glucagon-like peptide, it triggers insulin secretion and slows gut emptying that helps satisfy hunger longer. GLP1 can be simulated by real food that is high in fiber including high fiber grains, good fats, proteins, and vegetables. Here are 6 foods that can help stimulate GLP1; No. 1, Almonds, a good source of plant protein and good fats. No. 2, beans and lentils are good sources of plant protein and fiber. No. 3, chia seeds are a good source of soluble fiber and omega 3 fats. No. 4, avocado is a good source of fiber and good fats. No. 5, oatmeal and barley are good high fiber grains. No. 6 Vegetables like broccoli, brussel sprouts, and kale have good fiber that can also support gut flora that stimulates GLP1. So to get some of the benefits of GLP1 agonist activity inexpensively, try these foods.

Here’s a little known super nutrient that has anti-diabetic anti-cancer anti-Alzheimer’s properties

Posted on August 12, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Here’s a little known super nutrient that has anti-diabetic anti-cancer anti-Alzheimer’s properties

This remarkable nutrient fundamentally has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. There is research that shows that it also helps to improve insulin sensitivity, blood sugar control, and hemoglobin A1C levels. Its anti-inflammatory and anti acetylcholinesterase effects may help to protect memory and cognitive function and prevent Alzheimer’s disease. If that weren’t enough, research shows that it has great promise in slowing or blocking the growth of certain cancers, such as cancer of the breast, ovary, cervix, liver, pancreas, and leukemia. This super nutrient is “Kaempferol”. Some good sources of kaempferol are watercress, mustard greens, arugula, kale, blueberries, endives, watermelon, turnip greens, apricots, and elderberries. So consider eating more of these foods.
