Here’s what it is, and 8 foods that are high in this anti-aging anti-cancer neuroprotective super nutrient. A major cause of physical aging is the build up of old cells that should be recycled in a process called autophagy. This makes way for newer, healthier, more youthful cells. This flavonoid called “fisetin” appears to induce autophagy, which is the natural clearing of these aging cells leaving you with younger cells to live with. It has also been shown to protect telomeres, the endcaps of DNA, which helps to extend healthy life. Experimentally, mice given fisetin lived 10% longer than expected. In laboratory studies it’s been found to inhibit cancer cell growth, protect brain cells, and protect kidneys for diabetic damage. Here are 8 foods high in this supernutrient: strawberries, apples, persimmons, onions, grapes, kiwi fruit, kale, and cucumbers. So to improve your health, try these foods.

High Fat Diet or Low-fat Diet, Which is Better for Insulin Resistance

Posted on September 23, 2024November 25, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on High Fat Diet or Low-fat Diet, Which is Better for Insulin Resistance

Most people seem to be aware that insulin resistance is at the heart of high blood sugar and type 2 diabetes, but which is better for insulin resistance? A high fat diet or a low fat diet? In 1935, researchers conducted a study that answers this question. Researchers took people with normal blood sugars and placed them on diets with gradually increasing fat percentages and evaluated them with a glucose tolerance test with each level. The results show that the higher the fat intake, the worse the glucose tolerance. In other words, insulin resistance got worse with more fat. In this study, people on a 58% fat diet had blood sugar levels nearly double the level of blood sugar of those on a 24% fat diet. This suggests that fat contributed to insulin resistance. More recent studies indicate that it is saturated fat that really contributes to insulin resistance. So for less insulin resistance, consider reducing your saturated fat intake, and make sure you replace it with whole unprocessed food.

If you feel the spirit, please pray with us to stop the escalation of war

Posted on September 23, 2024November 25, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on If you feel the spirit, please pray with us to stop the escalation of war

Today is the international day of peace, and yet parts of the world are at war and innocent people are dying. Hi, I’m Dr. Shintani, a Third generation American physician and Hawaiian elder of Japanese ancestry. My Ancestors are from Hiroshima, and yet my father was born an American CItizen in 1914 and was drafted into the US army in World War II. So my family understands the dilemma of war, the pain of the senseless loss of lives of friends and relatives. So let us pray together to stop the escalation of war, so that another World War never be given a chance to happen again. Please put in the comments from where you are praying to strengthen the geographic power of this prayer. In our last prayer people from 34 countries and 41 states participated. So please share so we can pray together as a world community, let us pray. Dear Heavenly father, blessed be thy name, humbly we come before thee on this the International day of peace, seeking thy divine guidance and intervention. We implore thee of thy infinite mercy that thy spirit of wisdom, compassion, and love enter our world leaders. Guiding them to seek peaceful solutions to conflicts that claim too many innocent lives. We ask for the healing of those who suffer and for the protection and swift release of any hostages, and most of all we ask your blessing of the departed souls and thy intervention that the killing be stopped, and that thy peace may prevail on earth. Those things we pray, Amen. Thank you for your prayers, and please remember to put from where you’re praying from, and remember our next prayer on Gandhi day which is october 2nd. I wish you happy health, happiness and peace, Aloha. #drshintani #internationalpeaceday #peaceprayer #prayerforworldpeace #prayerforpeace #internationaldayofpeace ##greenscreen #drshintani #internationalpeaceday #peaceprayer #prayerforworldpeace #prayerforpeace #internationaldayofpeace

Here’s a Surprise Anti-cancer Nutrient Found in Common Foods and Nine Foods That Have It

Posted on September 22, 2024November 25, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Here’s a Surprise Anti-cancer Nutrient Found in Common Foods and Nine Foods That Have It

A flavonoid found in common foods has been found to have potent anti-cancer properties in laboratory tests. In vitro, it’s been shown to slow the growth of cancer and appears to induce apoptosis or natural cancer cell death in several cancers. Some of the cancers studied include cancers of the prostate, cervix, lung, breast, colon, ovary and leukemia. It’s a flavonoid called quercetin, in vivo, studies have shown that quercetin has a cytotoxic effect on ovarian cancer cells indicating it should be studied for cancer treatment. Nine of the best dietary sources of “quercetin” include apple peels, onions, berries, grapes, broccoli kale, green tea, capers, and citrus fruit. So if you want to reduce your risk of cancer, consider adding these foods to your diet.

Posted on September 20, 2024November 25, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on 8 Plant-based Foods that Have More Calcium Per Gram Than Milk

For decades we’ve been told that we have to drink milk to get enough calcium in order to prevent osteoporosis. But they never tell you that this concept is controversial because the countries that consume the most dairy have the most osteoporosis. For example the prevalence of osteoporosis in the US is about 12.6%. In the Philippines, the prevalence of osteoporosis is just 2.5% but they consume less than 10% of the amount of milk that we do in the US. So where should we get calcium? Here are 8 plant-based sources of calcium that are higher per gram than milk. Milk has about 120 milligrams per 100 grams, kale has a 150 milligrams per 100 grams, choice some has about 150 milligrams, turnip greens about 190 milligrams, kelp about 200 milligrams, collard greens about 232 milligrams, dulce about 250 milligrams, tofu 350 milligrams if set with calcium sulfate, Japanese seaweed hijiki has 800 milligrams of calcium per 100 grams. So consider these foods for your calcium sources.

Posted on September 19, 2024November 25, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Better Sleep, Better Circulation, and Less Pain and Inflammation with “earthing” also known as…

Here are 3 benefits of “earthing”. Harness mother earth’s power to heal. “Earthing” or “Grounding” is the practice of making direct contact with the Earth’s surface. It is believed that this connection allows electrons from the earth to transfer into the body helping to neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation. Here are 3 research based examples of the benefits of earthing. No. 1, research has shown that earthing can significantly reduce inflammation and pain by neutralizing free radicals as demonstrated by lower inflammatory markers and reducing chronic pain associated with arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. No. 2, earthing has also been found to improve sleep quality, research found that earth grounded individuals reported better sleep apparently due to the stabilization of night time cortisol levels. No. 3, earthing also improves blood flow and preliminary research suggests that it can reduce blood pressure by as much as 20%. To practice earthing, walk barefoot on natural surfaces such as on grass or sand, for 20 to 30 minutes daily or use grounding mats indoors.

Change your gut, Flora change your cancer risk? Colon cancer is increasing in young people, possibly

Posted on August 25, 2024November 17, 2024 By drshintani No Comments on Change your gut, Flora change your cancer risk? Colon cancer is increasing in young people, possibly

Colon cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in the US, and what’s alarming is that this is beginning to occur in younger and younger people, so how do we prevent it? Research is pointing toward dietary factors, because people are consuming processed and junk food at a younger and younger age. One emerging factor is gut flora, researchers have found that colon cancer is associated with an intestinal bacteria called fusobacterium nucleatum. Scientists believe that this gut flora suppresses the immune system that fights cancer which allows colon cancer to form. Research on dietary intervention shows that a high fat diet and red meat increase the species of gut flora and is associated with higher risk of colon cancer. Research also reveals that fiber, whole grain, fruit, and vegetables reduce the prevalence of fusobacterium nucleatum and is associated with less colon cancer. So to reduce your risk of colon cancer, consider eating more fiber, whole grain, whole vegetables and fruit and less fat and red meat.
