Can this diet fight prostate cancer and PSA? (prostatic specific antigen)
Can this diet fight prostate cancer and PSA? (prostatic specific antigen) Free e-book at PeaceDiet.org
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men. The National Cancer Institute points out that around 80% of men who reach 80 years old have prostate cancer cells, but most of them don’t actually become full blown prostate cancer. So how do we prevent prostate cancer cells from growing? One clue is in population studies that countries that consume less fat have less prostate cancer. In a prospective randomized intervention in men with prostate cancer, researchers found that men on a low fat diet composed of just 15% fat showed fatty acid changes associated with decreased prostate cancer growth. In another study, a low fat diet of 10% fat showed a 4% decrease in PSA, which is a marker for prostate cancer, while those on a higher fat control diet had a 6% increase. Of course dietary fat may not be the only factor. Weight loss is also associated with lower prostate cancer risk. For a low fat diet that helps induce weight loss, consider trying my 7 Day Eat More Weigh Less diet program.

Here are the top 9 foods that fight pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in the US. It is also common in Western Europe, while it’s relatively rare in african, asian, and pacific nations. The one difference in pancreatic cancer mortality probably has a lot to do with the differences in the diet of these countries. So to test the effect of different foods on pancreatic cancer, researchers cultured pancreatic cancer cells in petri dishes and dripped extracts of various foods into the live cancer cell cultures to see their effect on cancer. Results were amazing, 3 food extracts almost completely stopped the growth of pancreatic cancer. These foods were garlic, Leeks, and brussel sprouts. The extracts of some 6 other foods reduced the growth of pancreatic cancer by over 90% including curly cabbage, green onions, yellow onions, kale, broccoli, and beetroot. To learn how to get a more complete list of foods to fight cancer and more info about dealing with cancer, see my summary lecture on 7 Ways to Fight Cancer.

What superfood has two nutrients that act like insulin for blood sugar control?
This superfood has two insulin-like nutrients in it. One is an insulin-like phytonutrient called “Polypeptide P”, which combines with insulin receptors to help lower blood sugar. It also has a second nutrient in it that is a phytonutrient called “Charantin” that helps glucose uptake in liver and muscles to store glucose as glycogen This superfood is Bittermelon. It may play an important role in why Okinawans live so long. In addition to the insulin-like nutrients, it’s full of fiber that slows the absorption of sugar and cholesterol. The fiber also supports the growth of healthy gut flora, which helps to control blood sugar as well. It can be eaten as a side dish, and it’s also available as a supplement, typical dosage in research is 2000 milligrams of bittermelon extract per day. As with any supplement, talk with your doctor first before using it.

68% less risk of stroke connected to this?
According to the World Stroke Organization, approximately one in four people is expected to have a stroke sometime in their life. Many people fear stroke and the resulting mental and physical disability more than they fear death. Most people don’t realize that this simple activity is connected to up to 68% less stroke, that is sleeping the right amount of hours. An international case control study shows that people that sleep around 7 hours per night have a 68% lower risk of stroke compared to people who sleep 5 hours or less per night. They also found that those who sleep more than 9 hours per night, are associated with double the risk of stroke compared to those who sleep around who sleep 7 hours per night. Of Course other factors like diet and exercise also affect stroke risk, but it’s clear that good sleep plays an important role.

Improve your memory and reduce your risk of brain decline, neuropathy, kidney disease, heart, disease, and diabetic retinopathy
This supplement protects against nerve, kidney, and eye damage from high blood sugar.
Most people fear dementia more than death. The debilitating results of chronically high blood sugar or uncontrolled diabetes contribute to brain decline and cause nerve damage, kidney damage, cardiovascular damage, and eye damage. Now a supplement which is considered a drug in some countries, appears to help protect against all these effects. It is Benfotiamine, a fat soluble form of vitamin B1 precursor. Because it is fat soluble, it appears to penetrate tissues more effectively and may improve memory and reduce diabetic neuropathy, kidney disease, heart disease, and diabetic retinopathy. Typical dose used is from 150mg to 600mg per day. So consider benfotiamine, but first check with your doctor to see if it’s right for you.

Quercetin for Stress, Blood Pressure, and Allergies
Red fruits do not just look pretty. They are also packed with Quercetin that is a natural anti-histamine. Keep reading to find out what other healthy spells Quercetin has up its sleeve!

Red fruits, such as the ones pictured above, and vegetables, such as onion, are not only flavorful but also contain Quercetin. This polyphenol compound has so many health benefits that we fully expect you to start chomping on onions after reading this article! Now first things first, what are polyphenols anyway? These are chemicals that are nature’s protectors against bacteria and viruses. Other rich sources of this compound include red wine, olive oil, citrus, and apples. Maybe the proverbial bull already knew about quercetin – it would certainly explain a lot about them chasing red capes!
Health Benefits of Quercetin
Increases the resistance to oxidative stress Oxidative stress produces radicals that damage our body from the inside. The radicals are also involved in the aging process. A study on yeast cells showed that quercetin not only bolstered their resistance towards this kind of stress, it also increased their life spans! (Belinha et al., 2007)
Reduces stress and anxiety
During stressful situation, the brain produces a hormone called CRH or “Corticotropin Releasing Hormone”. This causes the adrenal glands to secrete cortosol in what is called an adaptation response. Too much cortisol can increase anxiety and depression. Quercetin helps to inhibit the excess release of CRH and helps to control stress, anxiety and even depression. (J Nutr Biochem. 2010)
Reduces Blood Pressure
Quercetin is also a substance that can help reduce blood pressure by increasing nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a substance that causes relaxation of blood vessels resulting in better blood pressure control.
Decreases the hold allergic reactions have on us since they have natural antihistamines One in every 5 people is affected by asthma and allergies in the United States. Together, we spend almost 8 billion on anti-allergy medication every year! Quercetin from natural sources can help stop the release of histamines – no more runny noses!.Reduces the swelling that comes with arthritis – say goodbye to swollen joints! (Chirumbolo, 2010).
Our heart suffers the most when the balance between good (HDL) and bad (LDL) cholesterol is disturbed (Egert, 2009).Quercetin helps restore that balance by preventing plaque buildup on the walls of the arteries. No or less plaque buildup means reduced risk of heart attacks! When combined with red wine that is alcohol-free, this polyphenol can stop cholesterol from accumulating in obese people. Obesity increases the risk of heart attack.
Works against tumors and cancers (Follo-Martinez et al., 2013).Various studies have also shown that Quercetin halts tumors in their footsteps. It even lowers the risk of cancers! This chemical has also been shown to decrease the risk of lung cancers in smokers, as well as, keeping the prostate and colon healthy.
Sources of Quercetin
As mentioned before, the natural sources of Quercetin include red fruits and vegetables. This means having apples and onions will actually keep the doctor away from you. Other sources are citrus fruits, parsley, red wine, and tea. The afore-mentioned sources are quite quercetin-rich. Other foods that will provide you with a measure of Quercetin include beans, blackberries, cherries, blueberries, grapes, leafy green vegetables, buckwheat, and olive oil.
Dosage of Quercetin
According to a study published in The Journal of Nutrition, it is safe for most people to take 50-500 mg of Quercetin every day. (Egert et al., 2008 )
Things to Consider
There may be side effects to consider. The common ones are listed below:
Nausea
Upset stomach
Headache
Kidney patients, pregnant/breastfeeding women, and children should avoid quercetin since the dosage for these groups has not been researched yet. Furthermore, it is possible that it could interact with anticoagulants, chemotherapy medications, corticosteroids, and cyclosporine. Therefore, avoid intake of quercetin, if you are on these medications.

Ancient, biblical herb, that fights cancer, diabetes, arthritis, inflammatory, bowel disease, and more…
What ancient biblical herb can fight cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
This ancient herb has been used throughout the Middle East and Asia as medicine for Digestive and Arthritic disorders. Modern research shows that this herb has potent anti-inflammatory effects that may alleviate the symptoms of arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. It has shown the ability to improve insulin sensitivity, and lower blood sugar in animal studies. It also shows promising cancer control as it can induce apoptosis or natural cancer cell death and prevent angiogenesis the formation of new blood vessels to feed tumors. The herb is Frankincense, and it’s active ingredient is boswellic acid, also available as Boswellia.
This high-protein food raises insulin higher than most carbs
What high protein food raises insulin more than most carbs? The answer may surprise you. Insulin is essential for survival, but chronically high insulin levels can contribute to obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and cancer.
While many people are eating more protein and less carb to control insulin, most people don’t realize that high protein foods can also raise insulin levels. In some cases more than carbs, for example, beef has an insulin index score of 51 compared to pasta, which has a score of 40. Surprisingly, yogurt, a high protein food, has an insulin score of 115, higher than most high carb foods, such as white rice, with an insulin score of 79, and white bread, with an insulin score of 100.

Top 7 beverages to avoid for blood sugar control
Here are the top 7 beverages to avoid blood sugar control and longevity. Number 7 will probably surprise you.
In general I don’t like calorie-containing beverages, because in liquid form, if calories hit the bloodstream too quickly and don’t have the benefit of fiber to slow the absorption of calories and sugar. So the result is a spike in sugar and insulin. So consider avoiding these 7 beverages for good health; Number 1 ofcourse avoid softdrinks, like soda or pop, because of their pure sugar content and often high fructose corn syrup content. Mountain Dew for example has 11.5 teaspoons of sugar per 12 ounce can, even more than coke at 10 grams. Number 2, Diet soda. Replacing sugar with artificial sweeteners is probably worse than sugar.
